03/02/10 - It's unfortunate, but realistically many college students cannot afford to go away to some exotic place like Cancun, Mexico for spring break. Spring break seems to be full of loud, crazy, pump-up music that is perfect for a night out or just dancing by the pool during a beautiful sunny day.

03/09/10 - For many people the Oscars day mean absolutely nothing. While celebrities and mega-stars were getting primped and styled for the famous award show, most of the American public, myself included, were just enjoying a regular, lazy Sunday.
Although you many have missed who won what award, and the speeches and presentations that accompanied them, the most entertaining aspect of the Oscars- or any awards show for that matter- is the fashion! To quote Joan Rivers, "Who wore what?"
Sometimes I find myself staring, mouth agape, at the breathtaking gowns and flashy jewelry, and other times I can't help but say, "What the hell was (insert celebrity's name) thinking?" Going through countless pictures from the Oscars I can safely say that I have accumulated quite a list of horribly dressed people.

As lovers of good film, we could not let this year's Oscar nominees for Best Film go unnoticed - especially given the year's many nominees - and so we discussed, debated and diverged over several of the nominees with film students Sonia Brand-Fisher '13, Sylvia Altreuter '12 and Claire Fleischer '12.

Shutter Island is a dark, terrifying, and suspenseful thriller, that will leave you asking one question when all is said and done: "What has director, Martin Scorsese, done to corrupt my innocent mind?" This film is intelligently conceived as well as an excellent adaptation to the fictional novel by Denis Lehane, which I highly recommend.

3/3/10 - Want to make summer of 2010 a memorable one? If you love music, road trips, and want to get the best tan of your life, then look no farther than the music festivals happening this summer.
A music festival is the perfect summer vacation- it's relaxing, but fun- and a great way to listen to music, spend time with your friends and just chill out.

In the summer of 08, a demo nudged the doors open of a developers' game convention in Leipzig, Germany. The simulation leaked onto the internet blogosphere, seeping through August like porous filter paper. Flying a folklore presentation of photorealism, creative director David Cage debuted the spiritual successor to Quantico Dream's Indigo Prophecy (2005), titled the curiously surreal "Heavy Rain".

In the gaming industry, the time between February and November is referred to as the "dead season". Normally during this time, not many big game releases hit the shelves. This season, however, has interesting titles for the big three: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii.

Being a student in Worcester is a gateway for more exciting opportunities than most people give it credit for. With the benefits of the Worcester Consortium in such close reach, it is mind-blowing how much is available to students and is rarely taken advantage of.

While watching Tom Ford's A Single Man, I couldn't help but think of ancient Greece - and not just because Colin Firth plays a rational, homosexual man.
Firth is George Falconer, a middle-aged college professor grieving over the recent death of his lover.

On Monday, Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m., six maestros of their craft took the stage at Cole Memorial Chapel and played to a packed house. Although the audience was comprised mainly of college students, the band was not your typical college radio rock band. Balla Kouyaté and his World Vision group introduced Wheaton students to a percussion-heavy, Afro-beat frenzy.

The goal of a good live album is to completely immerse the listener by recreating the concert experience. You should be able to close your eyes and be transported away to the front row of a sold-out venue. A live album should capture the spontaneity, intimacy and energy of a performance.
