03/09/10 - For many people the Oscars day mean absolutely nothing. While celebrities and mega-stars were getting primped and styled for the famous award show, most of the American public, myself included, were just enjoying a regular, lazy Sunday.

Although you many have missed who won what award, and the speeches and presentations that accompanied them, the most entertaining aspect of the Oscars- or any awards show for that matter- is the fashion! To quote Joan Rivers, "Who wore what?"

Sometimes I find myself staring, mouth agape, at the breathtaking gowns and flashy jewelry, and other times I can't help but say, "What the hell was (insert celebrity's name) thinking?" Going through countless pictures from the Oscars I can safely say that I have accumulated quite a list of horribly dressed people.

Going into the 2010 Olympic games in Vancouver the U.S. Men's Hockey team certainly was not the overall favorite to win gold. After all, Canada's roster was filled with NHL superstars and Russia's first line composed of Alexander Ovechkin, Evgeni Malkin, and Ilya Kovalchuk was arguably one of the scariest lines ever assembled.

Rachel Maddow is unarguably an icon. More than a political personality, she represents success for women of all orientations, in all fields. She is full-out funny, with ties to Western Massachusetts that make her seem like an old friend. It's no wonder that someone so eloquent, intelligent and familiar would be welcomed to Smith with open arms.
